DONOR ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

At Big Brothers Big Sisters, our mission is simple: create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. The Donor Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing our mission by supporting and implementing a comprehensive fund development program.

This position is ideal for someone who values relationship-building, organization, and creating engaging experiences that help youth grow and thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Campaign Management

  • Create engaging fundraising materials, including donor cards, solicitation letters, and campaign collateral (e.g., end-of-year materials, sponsorship forms).

  • Implement and manage donor-focused fundraising campaigns aligned with the annual fundraising strategy.

  • Cultivate and steward donor relationships, focusing on:

    • Individual donors contributing $500 or less annually.

    • Corporate donors and sponsors contributing $1,000 or less annually.

  • Coordinate donor recognition efforts to ensure meaningful stewardship.

  • Collaborate with the Development Director and team to support major gift initiatives.

 

Partnership & Community Engagement

  • Assist in managing relationships with corporate and community partners.

  • Represent the organization at business development, networking, and community events to foster new relationships and increase visibility.

  • Develop and implement donor cultivation and stewardship events and activities.

 

Marketing & Communications Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Community Engagement Team to:

    • Develop cases for support, impact reports, press releases, and quarterly newsletters.

    • Support the creation and distribution of promotional materials, including brochures, presentations, and annual appeals

 

Grant Management & Administrative Support

  • Maintain a regular grant schedule and assist with grant applications and reporting.

  • Draft correspondence, proposals, reports, and general donor communications as directed.

  • Document and track all donations and donor interactions within the donor database to ensure accurate records and reporting.

Event Coordination

  • Support the Community Engagement Team in executing event logistics to ensure smooth operations and engaging experiences that reflect the mission and values of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, marketing, or a related nonprofit role.

  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.

  • Experience with donor database management.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

  • Passion for youth mentoring and commitment to the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Critical Skills& Knowledge

  • Understanding of nonprofit operations and fundraising strategies.

  • Ability to craft compelling mission-driven narratives and communicate financial needs.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain community relationships.

  • Analytical thinking and process integration skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

  • Must complete BBBS of America fund development training within 60 days of hire.

  • Must pass a criminal background check.

  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events and community engagement.

Compensation

The compensation for this Full-Time position (36 hours/week) is competitive pay commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance, dental insurance, vacation, holidays, wellness days, 401k retirement account and an Employee Assistance Plan.
